markj99 visited on 23rd Mar 2012 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 3 Access: 4 Cawdor Stone was easy to visit but couldn't be accessed closely due to the field being in crop at my time of visit. Fortunately the stone is relatively close to the edge of the field for photographic purposes.

livingstone visited on 26th Feb 2011 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 3 Access: 3 This stone is less than 10 mins from my home i see it everyday in all types of climate. It has always struck me as being a "lonely" stone. Easily seen from the roadside but close examination often impossible due to barley crop in the field.

Average ratings for this site from all visit loggers: Condition: 3.5 Ambience: 3 Access: 3.5

A standing stone approximately 2.1m (7ft) tall composed of conglomerate sandstone with lots of small rounded stones embedded in the rock. This stone is supposedly the last remnant of a Clava Cairn. Remember it is in a farmer's field but it is easy to photograph from the edge of the field if the field is in crop.

Great information about the stone and context, which seems to have a lot of adjacent sites. A proper cluster. I'd love to get into the datings of these to look for continuity of interest and expression in the area over a period. Possibly been done.

Clava Cairn known as Balnuaran of Clava E is recorded at

and has an address more Culloden Moor than Cawdor I recall.

When I visited the site I was told by one of the nearbye residents that this stone had originally been part of a stone circle that had been destroyed by the farmer (many years ago) and the moved to other locations including this one.

Seems to be made from sedimentary river bed rock, with lots of small rounded stones embedded in it.easy access ,but remember its in a farmers field so autumn/ winter would be the best time to see it.
