Bwlch Cerrig Duon Cist east
Bwlch Cerrig Duon Cist east submitted by cerrig : This is looking east, towards the northern slopes of the Central Beacons, The Black Mountains in the far distance. The chamber can just about be made out here. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Ruined Cairn in Powys.

Coflein NPRN number; 403096.
On the side of the lane from Trecastle to Dan yr Ogof, next to a pull in, is a flattened circular platform. In the centre area is a ruined Cist. It is visible by an upright slab and a rectangular cavity, the rest of the platform mostly empty now, all evidence of any covering Cairn long gone, just a few small stones around the edges.
Extensive views to the East and the Central Beacons.
Just down the lane is the Tawey valley and its other Neolithic monuments.

Bwlch Cerrig Duon Cist east
Bwlch Cerrig Duon Cist east submitted by cerrig : This is a wider view of the, now empty, platform. The very green outline shows the extent of the original covering mound. There are a few stones remaining, on the perimeter. The rest have gone, presumably in the construction of the nearby road. The size of this platform, also probably man made, is about 25-30 metres. Bwlch Cerrig Duon Cist east
Bwlch Cerrig Duon Cist east submitted by cerrig : This is looking South, about 200 degrees. Just over the centre horizon is Bwllch y Cerrig Duon Barrow, just out of sight. When this platform had a mound they would have been intervisible. The distance between the sites about 250 meters.
