Gongoozler visited on 27th Jul 2020 - their rating: Access: 2 Bit tricky to find. Worth the effort for a wonderful location, 360 degree views across Exmoor with no habitation in site.

SandyG visited on 23rd Apr 2018 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 2 This is not an easy row to reach. Car parking is available at SS 83523 42234. From here follow the footpath west past the Madacombe stone row and then head west to SS 80073 43241. The row is a short distance to the east. Having made the effort it is worth having look at the nearby rows at East Pinford and Trout Hill.

This stone setting in the wilds of Exmoor is a 6 stone rectangle, or two rows of three stones arranged like the dots on a domino.

This is supposed to be a six stone rectangle, with all stones remaining, but I only found 5 stones today. It is definitely two rows of three, with the remaining stones up to 0.5 metres tall. The stones in each row are spaced about 8 or 9 metres from each other, with the two rows 6 or 7 metres apart.

I have to say that I was expecting this to be a much more impressive setting from a picture I have seen of it beforehand.

Update August 2019: This stone row is featured on the Stone Rows of Great Britain's website - see their entry for Tom’s Hill, which includes a description, a plan of the row from Chanter and Worth (1906), a plan of the row from a recent survey in April 2018, photographs and access information. SRoGB notes: "This is not an easy row to reach … having made the effort it is worth having a look at the nearby rows at East Pinford and Trout Hill".

Thanks to TheCaptain for noticing the photo I've posted here is NOT Toms Hill! Clicking on the photo gives info about the true location. My apologies.

This stone setting is more fun than it looks in the photo and easier to find than many - cross the boundary wall on the 'Samaritan's Way' path after it turns north beyond Larkbarrow, turn left (west), follow the wall closely and it appears just when you think you have probably missed it.

Doh, looks like I've missed out on putting my notes and pictures from many years ago up of this one! Probably fooled because it was already a photopage! One to do when I have some time!
