Standing Stone (Menhir) in Carmarthenshire (Sir Caerfyrddin)

A rather squat, but nevertheless attractive and impressive monolith, located on a delightful plateau with magnificent views to the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains (on a clear day of course!).

It is recorded by the RCAHMW (their ref NPRN 304536) as 'A striking monolith, having distinctive veins of quartz, 0.9m high, by 0.6m, by 0.5m.'

It can be found 50 yards to the north of Garn Fawr / Carn Fair (NPRN 304535). Both stone and cairn are shown on both 25k and 50k OS Maps.

COFLEIN is non-committal as to the age of this rather pleasing standing stone...it merits the climb to visit if you are in the area!
