Update December 2019: This hillfort is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entries for the Wooston Castle Fort and The Neolithic tombs of Cuckoo Ball & Corringdon Ball.

The fort is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 445354, as MDV8292 (Wooston Castle) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as Historic England List Entry No. 1003822 (Wooston Castle).

Tree clearing well ahead of schedule, site looks a bit bare but the views are incredible. Well worth a visit. Archeologists hopeing to start some sort of dig in the new year.

Your members might like to know that the National Trust and Woodland trust now own this site. As a volunteer I'm helping, with others, to clear the self seeded trees from the area. By Spring 2017 most ofthem should be gone which will reveal a lot more of the fort. We've already found that it goes much further than seemed obvious at first because it was all hidden in the trees planted in the 1960s and 70s.
