w650marion visited on 20th Apr 2023 Went up the old hard way by the wall, came down the new winding path, much easier on my legs!

There are two forts, the higher northern one is very impressive, but the smaller southern fort is barely a fort at all more a hill top enclosure. But the view from either forts/enclosures is sublime, Cader Idris and the Mawddach estuary really catch your gaze.

There is a footpath nearby but it runs round too far to the north. I just took the straight line from the car park, also the steepest route.

Moel Offrwm submitted by w650marion : Walking around the Hillfort you can clearly see several hut platforms which had this view! (I thought the view made a better photo than the platform, but they are quite clear on the ground!) (1 comment - Vote or comment on this photo)

Moel Offrwm
Moel Offrwm submitted by w650marion : This is from the 2009 Visitor Guide prepared for CADW, which tells you to follow the wall steeply up the hill. It gets you to the right place for the entrance to the fort and to explore all the interesting parts. But don't go up that way, there is a new more winding path (with a bench halfway!) which also leads to the entrance! (Vote or comment on this photo)

The Nannau Estate and Snowdonia National Park Authority recently created a new path up to the summit of Foel Offrwm which is around 1.5 miles.

As I was checking a possible route up to the hillfort, I noticed that the map location coordinates above are incorrect. They should be SH749210
