Broch in Sutherland

Achcoillenaborgie broch is a dilapidated structure perched on the top of a low, bracken-covered mound immediately east of the road from Bettyhill to Skelpick. It is probable that most of the stonework was dismantled in historical times to construct local settlements. What remains has degenerated into little more than a tumble of fallen masonry, which conceals any remaining internal structure, and the only feature of note remaining is on the outer western wall where ground level footings can still be seen. Adjacent to the broch, on its southwest, is a near-circular rubble-walled enclosure of uncertain period.
