TheCaptain visited on 24th Feb 2023 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 3 From the menhir I walk up to the top of the hill to look at the two ring cairns. Both quite large diameter, seemingly a ring of stone around a flat inside with a pile in the middle. The northern of the two is less distinct and more grassy. I didn't see anything resembling a circle of upright stones!

Two Ring Cairns on the summit of their hill. The North West one is 22.5 metres in diameter with a height of approximately 1.0 metre.

Update October 2019: This cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Harbourne Head A Stone Ring Cairn Circle , which tells us this is: "A ring cairn, Harbourne Head consisting of a stone ring 17.0 metres in diameter internally, with bank 1.8 metres wide and 0.4 metres high. Cairn contains a central mound, 12.0 metres in diameter, 0.8 metres high. This type of cairn is referred to as a Dartmoor version of the Wessex bell barrow".

The cairn is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 441770, which records the remains of both cairns, and as MDV5802 (Ring cairn 950 metres west of Skerraton Gate). The cairns are shown on the Historic England map, but there is no listing or scheduling information for them.
