Recorded on the Devon and Dartmoor HER as MDV5235 (Cairn at Huntingdon Warren) , we are told that this site "has been mutilated by the erection of marker cairns and shelters on it." The cairn was described in 1912 as sitting on the highest part of Huntingdon Hill, approximately 76 yards or approximately 70 metres in circumference. In 1977, the description given was that the cairn was "22.0 metres in diameter, 1.7 metres high, built of large boulders ..... ", with the site sitting 290 metres north west of Huntingdon Warren House.
In 1993, a note was added saying "no evidence of an organised structure to this cairn and it may never have been anything more than a loose collection of stones."
The Pastscape Record for this monument (number 441414) tells us that that by 1995 the height was reduced to 1.4 metres due to construction of two walker's shelters and another marker cairn.
Update November 2019: For further information, also see the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks' (PDW) entry for the Huntingdon Barrow Cairn. This site is not a scheduled ancient monument, although on a map search of Historic England, the site is marked on its map.
