in the mid nineteenth century it stood in a field on Knocknagael Farm, and it was subsequently moved to the edge of the field, close to the road. In 1991 it was taken to its present location, which is in the foyer of Highland Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness.

The knocknagael boar once stood 3 miles South of Inverness, at NH657413, but was moved for conservation purposes in 1991.

It now lives in the Regional Highland Council headquarters, Glenurqhart rd, Inverness - It sits in the foyer, accesible during office hours.

A huge cI pictish boar, with ornate curved markings - much like the famous Burghead bulls, or the famed Ardross wolf..

It is beneath a large weathered double disc symbol, the left disc, now completely worn away.

See attached pictures, thankyou

Aron Bowers

I am interested in the point about a double disc with the left disc worn away. Is there any remnant marking? If the discs were connected I would have expected a connector to the right of the current circles.

    Thanks - enorm
