Cairns in Gwynedd

Two cairns straddle the path descending west from Bryn Cader Faner; a map is essential, as well as stout walking gear. The upper cairn (south) has two concentric rings, and a sizeable collapsed cist, clearly visible within the centre. The lower cairn (north) has some upright stones, and is best viewed from the ridge to its east.

Also of interest is a burnt mound next to the stream a little way to the east. Look for a circular mound of gorse.

Back to east, before a right angle turn in the path, there is another ring cairn to the right with a spectacular panorama.
