Ring Cairn in Gwynedd

Drive past Bron y foel isaf burial chamber and where the lane turns too rough to drive upon park and walk. Just up the path a sign points right, follow the sign, pass the ruined house, and this is where it gets tricky. The path fades in and out but if you can follow it across two little bridges then now is the time to veer left and go up hill wading through high summer grasses and the occasional quagmire.

The ring cairn is a complete circle and I kinda liked it once I'd found it, even though it was almost hidden in the grass and bracken.I tramped around it revealing the stones as I went, some are quite big.
A winter visit would be more rewarding, but the views are rewarding no matter when you go.

It's not easy to find, I failed once before myself, even after having found it.

We unsuccessfully tried to find this elusive ring cairn for the second time today - identifying the correct field is easy but the terrain is so difficult. Large stones surrounded by bog, all disguised with tall grass, my legs are not long enough. Very pretty though, with white bog cotton and orchids everywhere. One day we will arrive at a good time of year when we can see it from a distance. Excellent work Postman for getting the photos! We did find the Romano British settlement (scheduled monument) in the next field though, it had nice short grass! Will post photos soon.
