Featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks website as the Outholme Newtake Cist, this cist forms part of their "Yellowmead and Drizzlecombe" walk. Their notes tell us this is: "located in an isolated pocket of closely cropped grass and surounded by tinners pits. Only three slabs survive in place surrounding a hollow and forming the sides of the cist. The fourth side is missing as is the capstone and any trace of a mound." Further information can also be found on the Pastscape website, see Monument Number 438592, which tells us this cairn with cist lies in the Deancombe Valley and lies "100m from a Newtake boundary .... this incomplete cist is situated on the west facing slope of a ridge on the east side of Yellowmead Down at about 295m of (above sea level)."
This cist is also recorded as MDV4024 (Cist 230 metres south-east of Roughtor Plantation) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as Historic England List Entry No. 1010701 (Cist south east of Roughtor Plantation).
