I seem to have inadvertently described the Ferry Wood site as a stone circle in the photo captions. It is in fact the remains of a broch.

The scant remains of Ferry Wood Broch sit close to the Countryside Centre in Lairg, from where a path leads through woodland. A walk of about a kilometre reveals a marker stone carrying generalised information about brochs in Scotland and the remains of Ferry Wood Broch lie adjacent atop a shallow rise. Little actually remains of the broch structure: long since trashed by forestry work, the main outline is marked by numerous large boulders, few adjacent to each other. There are no obvious signs of inner or outer wall facings nor any hint of any mural structure.
