MartinPlace visited on 9th Sep 2021 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 3 I turned off the road called Lon Ganol onto the dead end street called Bron Haul and parked on the corner opposite the entrance to a track that leads up to what looks like a small holding, where I was planning enquire about access to the stone. Upon arrival the small holding turned out to be some sort of construction yard. I asked a passer by who directed me instead to the nearest of the three houses, stood by themselves back down on Lon Ganol. Once there a very nice lady was only too happy for me to visit the stone and invited me to go through the fields rather than up the track to the construction yard. Her only stipulation was to make sure I closed the gates as she has horses. As I approached the second gate I got my first look at the stone in the next field standing out against the skyline. It’s in a great spot at the top of the field where it can be viewed against the skyline from a few different directions. Looking at it from the West it’s has a marvellous backdrop formed by the mountains of Snowdonia. The stone itself is standing about 1.5m tall. It is very rough with an extremely cragged and jagged surface. It is permeated throughout with thick, vertical seams of quartz which almost give it the appearance of marble in some places. It’s not difficult to see why this stone was selected. There is plenty of lichens, but only on the stone which makes the quartz stand all the more. It’s a great stone in a fantastic spot. I’m very glad I took the trouble to track it down.

I do not think this is the correct image for this site. The stone on this location is much smaller. These images seem more likely to be the nearby Ty-Gwyn.

This stone looks suspiciously like Ty-Gwyn 1km away (SH554739). The given map reference for this stone (SH 564739) is plumb in the middle of Llandegfan village, and I was unable to locate it. Are they the same? The Ty-Gwyn stone is IMHO the best situated of all the Anglesey stones with great views over Snowdonia.
