Bodewryd
Bodewryd submitted by guile : Carreglefn - the smooth stone, and also as Maen Pres - the brass stone. A legend says that if you cut into the ground around its shadow at a certain time of the day then you will discover treasure buried in a brass container. It is also said that if you can first find, and then read a supposed inscription on the stone, then this enormous stone will move aside to reveal the treasure. Bodewryd
Bodewryd submitted by guile : approaching the stone, its truly a massive specimen!

Bodewryd
Bodewryd submitted by guile : The view from the road, a single track, but there is room to park on the verge.

Bodewryd
Bodewryd submitted by raythemapman : Site in Anglesey (Sir Ynys Mon) Wales: Today the area around this 12foot Standing Stone is modern pasture and managed woodland. This modern scenery does not complement the Stone.I decided to look for unspoilt meadow and woodland, I then added the Stone to this new background, I think this is an improvement, and gives an idea of the original location.

Bodewryd submitted by TimPrevett : The awesome, wondrous stone of Bodewryd. Quite a trek down single track lanes, but so, so worthwhile.

Re: Bodewryd by Anonymous on Thursday, 31 May 2007
well i suppose that you could say ive visited the site, as i was its closest neighbour for a good few years during my latter childhood until my mid-twenties!
in some respects i consider it "my" stone, as living next to it gives oneself a sense of guardianship, and i can certainly say the proximity of such antiquity has had its effect on my world-view, the ancient stones of the island, and of britain as a whole, have become something very special to my heart over the years and i cannot spend enough time around them and with them!
i have visited this particular stone in the quiet silver black of night, circled it, pressed my body to it, taken my friends to drink in its glory.
nothing moves me like the presence of these stones, i feel bound to them deeply, much more so than i feel connected to the distorted "history" we are given of this country ... i dont know what it is, but to me there is more truth in the silence of these stones than in all the books written on the kings, queens, politicians, battles and wars that modern britain has founded itself upon.
