Maen Melyn, Llanybri submitted by PAB : Maen Melyn. (Vote or comment on this photo)
A very massive standing stone - reported by Coflein to be 7' 1" high, and with a girth of 150". Unfortunately, it is so embedded in the hedge that it was almost invisible!

The name is strange - the Welsh name translates as 'yellow stone', but it is a deep red sandstone under its almost full green covering of ivy.

Maen Melyn, Llanybri submitted by PAB : Maen Melyn - detail of surface showing the red sandstone, odd considering its name means 'yellow stone' Photo: Sept 2015 (Vote or comment on this photo)
