Very interesting site. Never been befor although we have lived in Cornwall for the last 15 years. Must note it is very similar to Uffington Castle (fort) in Oxfordshire. Understand they are both Iron Age forts. Very interesting. Great views and will be going back again very shortly.

This is a dramatic univallate fort, with steep drops on all sides. The enclosed area is the flat top of an oval hill in a deep valley between higher ground, but with views north to Kit Hill.
The rampart is little more than a low 1-3 foot bank seen from inside, forming a flattened rim around the hilltop, but the external bank is steeply scarped for about 20 feet. To the south and south east there is a narrow but well defined ditch, but for most of the rest of the circuit the scarp sits on a narrow shelf, which nonetheless emphasises the steepness of the rampart face. At the north where the hill narrows to a point the ditch is present for just a few yards, again defining and emphasizing the defences. There is a well defined entrance to the east, with in-turned horns to the bank in a classic iron age form. There is another entrance to the north, but less well defined and may not be original. A slight entrance in the south appears to be simply the result of erosion by walkers. Access is via a footpath and small gate from the lane following the river Lynher at the foot of the hill to the east; there is parking space along two stretches of the lane, and the site is popular with dog walkers, though the ascent is steep.

This Iron Age hill fort crowns its steep sided hill with an impressive rampart. The gap on the S side is not an original one but entrances do exist to the E and W.
