Mynydd Cefn Amlwch
Mynydd Cefn Amlwch submitted by pab : On a wonderfully clear day in October, looking north east up the Lleyn Peninsula. The location is noted on COFLEIN as also being known as Coetan Arthur, their ref being NPRN: 93509, at GR SH22973456. (Vote or comment on this photo)
A nice looking burial chamber, fenced off in its field, half way up the hillside on a fairly substantial slope. It has a lovely shaped capstone sat on top of three uprights, with a few other large stones laying around.

Additional information submitted by Drew Parsons September 2010.
The large capstone (3.0 metres by 1.5 metres) sits on three upright stones with a further stone lying next to it. There are two huge quartz stones here and a somewhat dilapidated fence around the site to protect it from cattle. The site is reached by a 200 metre footpath from the road.

It is quite beautiful in its setting,it is protected by a fence but this does not detract from the ambience of the site. The views around are a part of its delight.

Visited today (September 1 2020) and there is a substantial metal fence tight to the monument which is very overgrown with ferns. Still atmospheric but few, if any, views through the tomb.

I have been visiting this splendid site since 1985 and, apart from its visual attraction and the superb view back up the peninsula when the weather is right, it has its own hidden attraction.
The NW supporting stone has some very magnetic patches, particularly on the lower part of the front face. Whether the builders felt this power in the stone is unknown, but it may have made it feel 'special' and encouraged them to use it in the monument.

Thanks for this Philip, all stones are interesting but stones that have unusual properties, particularly ones that can be demonstrated or measured are fascinating.

Visited here last Monday - delightful site. Brand new fence up with barbed wire! Keeps the cattle out - and humans too.
