Hillfort in Gwynedd. Defended by a stone rampart, it has a spectacular view of Bardsey Island. It also ties in well with the Gelliwig site below towards the north. Gelliwig is the only place that has this name which is King Arthur's favorite court in the Welsh Mabinogion. Imagine yourself as King Arthur looking at the 360 degree view and wonder if Bardsey Island is the resting place of his body after being wounded at Camlan (located south of Dolgellau).

Stunning location 700 and 750 feet high that is accessible by the crossroads at the bus stop for Rhiw. Walk in the direction of the bus towards Pwllheli just past a chapel to a foot path on the right leading up to the ramparts above. (around to the right side is of the ramparts is a ladder style). It is marked as fort on the Ordinance Survey.

Re: Creigiau Gwineu by Anonymous on Tuesday, 08 April 2008
Arthurian writers Steve Blake and Scott Lloyd wonder if this is the summer site of Arthur's court of Gelliweg (Kelliwig). They argue this because there is a place nearby called Gelliweg, which they theorise to be the winter court; the only place in the UK to bear the name. Gelliweg is supposedly in Kernyw (which has be interpreted to be Cornwall) but the mountains of Ireland were said to be able to be seen from this court and on a clear day they can indeed be seen from Cregiau Gweneu, they cannot be seen from anywhere in Cornwall. They argue, and there is some evidence to support it, that this area of the Lleyn, which, like Cornwall is a peninsular, was also called Kernyw at some point.
