Colquite Menhir
Colquite Menhir submitted by TheCaptain : The stone is nearly 6 feet tall in a little enclosure type area where the walls go around it, which would seem unusual for many reasons. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Possible boundary stone, possible menhir, possibly gatepost, possibly once all three. This is a nice stone standing near to the western end of the wall and footpath that runs west from Tresellern.

The stone is nearly 6 feet tall in a little enclosure type area where the walls go around it, which would seem unusual for many reasons. It is a slender stone only one and a half feet wide at the bottom. There are no markings which I would expect of a boundary stone, but there is one hole two thirds the way up, which suggests perhaps once it was a gatepost – but why would the walls avoid it?

Re: Colquite Menhir by Anonymous on Friday, 13 March 2015
Was browsing the internet and saw your photo, I live at the farm at Tresellern, at can tell you that the standing stone at the ruins of Colquite farmstead is an old gate post that was used as part of a handling setup for picking out and sorting livestock from the common. The previous tenants on the farm melted out the hangings after they left, those things aren't cheap!
