Rock Art in North Ayrshire

On the slopes of Kaim Hill there is a collection of Cup & Ring Markings, about 100m away from the peak of Diamond Hill.

This weathered rocky outcrop measures about 8m x 3m, and contains carvings that are between 2,500 ~ 3,500 years old, partly overgrown with Moss, this outcrop is about 140m above sea level and located just to the South of the woods on Diamond Hill.

First documented in 1896 by "J. Lamb", he records then that there was about twenty Cup Marks visible, with two having fairly well-defined Rings around them.

By 1956 when OS made a visit to the site, they record only 1 of the Cup Marks still having a Ring around it. But when "R.W.B. Morris" investigated the site in 1967 he found at least three Cups that had a Ring around them, and over a hundred Cups (Noting that there may be more covered by turf)
