In 'The Romance of the Stones' the tomb is said to be reasonably intact', it is described as 'a prominent feature situated upon the summit of the Tor, although it is not immediately apparent that this is a chambered tomb. It is only on close inspection the human design features become apparent - a burial chamber built into the cavity beneath a stack of weathered tor stones'.
The site is described as 6.2 feet high and surrounded by a circular platform 28 feet in diameter. The chamber constructed below the capstone is 6.9 feet long and 2 feet wide. It is now open to the elements but the whole had been enclosed by a cairn.
