Nine Maidens Stone Row Once thought to be the only stone row in Cornwall (no longer the case with stone rows found on Bodmin Moor), this stone row is to be found beside the A39 near to Winnards Perch, a few miles southwest of Wadebridge.

Nine Maidens stone row. Well worth the rather scary walk along the main road to get to the style at the bottom of its field!

In this shot, taken early September, The Old Man looks rather like 'Jaws'!

Plan of the Nine Maidens, with numbering of stones, which may be useful. I see they call the fallen stone at the higher end 'The Old Man'. Maybe he did look human when in original upright position? (Don't recall where I found this!)

For JACKME: The position of the human-looking stone at the top of the row. [Notice on the earlier pic posted, the big seam of quartz on the 'head'.]

Nine Maidens: [For JackME] - the 'human-looking' stone I noticed near the highest end of the row.

Another stone of interesting shape and texture. This one is next down the slope from the quartz-rich one.I wonder if its left side has been broken off at some point in time?
