Dun Boreraig Standing stone in Isle of Skye

I believe that Boreraig is Norse for fort-bay. This stone stands on "level" ground in the bay.

The stone is about 4' high, 2' across and 6" thick. It faces south towards the sea at Loch Eishort and sits on a small mound of boulders placed around its base. Tradition suggests that the stone marks the burial site of a body or bodies washed ashore, a custom common on Skye. Copyright John Allan and licensed for reuse under the Creative Commons Licence.
