Typical of many wayside Cornish crosses, this side has a small figure with outstreched arms. I believe they were known as 'tunic crosses'?

"There are 3 old crosses on the Mount: (1) a 15thC granite lantern cross (5149 2988); (2) a small wheel-headed cross (5161 3001), originally from Trevean near St Erth, now on a ledge overlooking the sea, with unique carved heads on either side of the fig

In 'Ancient Sites in Penwith' by Cheryl Straffon, in the section for 'Crosses', 'St Michael's Mount', she writes: "... an ancient magnificent 6ft shafted and decorated cross (5144 2981) on the SW side poised precariously above the sea."

Cornish Bronze Age hoard goes on display (Score: 1) by Andy B on Saturday, 07 May 2011 (User Info | Send a Message) | A Bronze Age hoard uncovered by a gardener on an island off Cornwall in 2009 is on public display.
The collection of 47 artefacts, found on St Michael's Mount, is on display in the island's castle.
Pieces - including axe-heads, daggers, ingots and a complete metal clasp - have been verified by the British Museum as being about 3,000 years old.
Archaeologists said the objects probably belonged to a blacksmith who had hidden them away for later use.
