Dun Borve (Skye)
Dun Borve (Skye) submitted by hamilton : Dun Borve looks quite spectacular when viewed from above, sitting on its spacious leven grassy platform. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Dun Borve, situated at an altitude of 180 metres on the hillside just east of the village of Borve, has a striking appearance from the above but is revealed as an almost featureless stoneheap at close quarters. All that remains of the former broch is a large circular heap of large tumbled stones at least 20 metres wide and three metres tall with almost no walling courses visible save a few large outer foundation blocks on the southwest and a short exposure of interior walling on the south.

To access Dun Borve, walk past the first two houses in Borve village where two large fields must be crossed to access the heathery hillside. Then just walk eastwards to the broch, which stands a little to the east of the village (15 minute walk).

Note: A dun close to the better known Borve Stone Row on the Isle of Skye (see nearby sites list)
