Truthwall Barrow
Truthwall Barrow submitted by Bladup : I've walked straight past this little unknown Saucer barrow/hengiform a few times before without seeing it, I've tried to show it in the photo but in the flesh it's a lovely intact little barrow, it's found to the South West and in the same field as the known about Bowl barrow, The Saucer barrow/hengiform is found at SWSW38163254, Carn Kenidjack is in the background (Vote or comment on this photo)

Pastscape entry.

"A furze and grass covered mound at Truthwall has been interpreted as a bowl barrow. The mound is 0.6 metres high on the western side and 1.1 metres high on the east. There is a central depression which may indicate an excavation."

Historic OS does not refer to a feature at this location. LIDAR is not currently available at this location. Aerial imagery displays very faint markings. However, there is (rumored) the location of a stone circle a few metres northwest, mentioned on historic maps. This would support the nearby construction of a barrow.

The Bowl Barrow/Tumulus is marked on the 25000 and 50000 OS maps, The little hengiform barrow i found is just to the SW of the marked bowl Barrow at SW38163254. I've no idea about about any Features to the NW though. In the past the feature to the SW of the Bowl Barrow could certainly have once been called a Stone Circle, because any round features including Hut Circles, Settlements, Henges/Hengiforms, Ring Cairns, Kerb Cairns, and even the round rims of ruined barrows were all listed as Stone Circles by antiquarians in times gone by.
