Elodin visited on 27th May 2023 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 3 Access: 3 One obvious depression, along with very uneven ground due to turf growing over the stones. Not much detail due to the turf, but at some small spots you can see the stones underneath.
The causeway was wet but not entirely underwater, there were stones on it which served as stepping stones for us.
We noticed several stones in the water along the perimeter of the crannog. Unsure if those were placed intentionally or if they fell there over time.
markj99 visited on 22nd Aug 2019 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 3 Unfortunately I visited Ardnave Loch during the rainy season (it runs from 1st January to 31st December) so the land around the loch was waterlogged. I would like to revisit in the dry season (if it exists).
Average ratings for this site from all visit loggers: Condition: 2.5 Ambience: 3.5 Access: 3
Ardnave Loch Crannog is an oval grass covered island measuring from 45 to 50 metres in diameter and up to 2m above the water level at the centre. In the centre there is a mound which contained “5 cist-like structures of apparently no great age” OS (N K B) 10 June 1978.
At the time of my visit, 23rd August 2019, there had been heavy rain. The path to the crannog and the causeway were under water denying me access to the crannog.
