Broch and Rock Art in Isle of Harris
Driving from Horgabost towards Scarista, just after passing the Garage/Petrol, 2 houses and a side road on the left hand side. Strting here is possible to walk along the middle track, you will cross 2 fences and cross a small stream. The dun is on the highest green and rocky hill. Alternative access on foot is possible if permission is obtained by the farmer parking at the house 800mt after Garage, and waking straight up towards the hill. The broch can be seen from the main road. The dun is aprox 14mt diameter The lower course of the circle can be traced around the hilltop in a nearly continuos line. Wall is about 3 mt tick and 1.5 mt high on one side. To the Se there are several more modern structures including a kiln and few blackhouses. The rock carvings can be found walking ESE for about 20 mt from the small cairn on top of the dun/ There is a large flat rock. In total you will be able to see more than 70 cup marks some quite large 13cm and some just 2 cm. Two adiacent rock have also cup marks.
