Klingon visited on 23rd Mar 2005 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 3

Dutch visited on 1st Feb 1990 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 3 It was a bit of a hazy and drizzly morning, which made it slightly uncomfortable to be there initially. It started clearing up while I made some photo's. Atmospheric, nice view on the bay if you climb on the surrounding rocks. I'll look for the B&W negatives and see if they're worth a scan.

Dunbeacon
Dunbeacon submitted by Rev : A 'must visit' when on the Mizen Peninsula as it is the only stone circle on that piece of land! 6 stones are upright, another 5 lie fallen and another smaller stone leans in the centre of the circle. Its higgledy-piggledy state gives it an air of drunken abandon but don't let this deceive you. Even in its 'ruinous' state, Dunbeacon still has pots of charm and some truly stunning views. Getting... Dunbeacon stone circle - good new access and awful fence by Andy B on Thursday, 18 January 2018
(User Info | Send a Message)
This site has had an awful fence put round it in the name of protecting the site - have a read here

As part of the development of a new walking route, the Sheep’s Head Way group has negotiated access to the Stone Circle, and has built a fenced trail across the fields and up to the circle. This, of course, is excellent in that it finally provides open access to this wonderful site. There is, however, a problem: the stone circle is now surrounded by a wooden fence on all sides that severely impacts on the appearance and atmosphere of the site. While it will keep cattle away from the stones (cattle can do a lot of damage to sites like this) and provide a safe zone for walkers if there are animals in the field, it has become impossible to relate to the site in the same way as we used to.

We stayed near here, in a straight line down to the coast, and had vivid dreams most nights. This happened every time we went here over a period of two years, so assume it was the force still being exerted by the stones. We have Irish ancestry, mine being via a traveller, which perhaps connected us.
