Fentonladock
Fentonladock submitted by cazzyjane : This is the recently restored Holy Well of St Ladoca just off a footpath not far from the church. The original Holy Well of Ladock is in the middle of a field, and very overgrown and boggy when I visited so was unable to make out any of the building itself. Plus there was a herd of cows rushing towards me so thought it wise not to delve any further! (Vote or comment on this photo)
Holy Well in Cornwall

The ancient well of St Ladoca is housed within a newly built 19th century semi-circular building made of granite. According to local legend, it never runs dry. The entrance is formed by two stones, the larger one has a Greek cross carved upon it. Inside, two 15th century cusped-shaped arches rise up from ground level. The wellhouse roof is made of a rubble mix.

St Ladoca was a 6th century Irish abbess who came to Cornwall with St Breage. She is said to have founded the first church here in Ladock.
