Brown Stones submitted by LivingRocks : Brown Stones Row situated close to the remains of the old Brown Stones Quarry. Top Left - Site of the Row, Top Right – An old trough found within the row, this looks to be of the same stone and is weathered to a similar degree as the stones, Bottom Left – The largest carved stone, several parallel grooves and the letters ST, Bottom Right – Close up of the carving, its far too fresh looking... Brown Stones
Brown Stones submitted by David : Here's the carved stone that's easiest to find. The large stones are all uprooted but follow a line toward a fold in the horizon. This marks the sunset on the longest day. There is a low barrow in the field too and several peripheral stones. (Vote or comment on this photo)

The Brown Stones row by David on Monday, 27 February 2006
(User Info | Send a Message)
The row of fallen stones looks toward a crease on the horizon - the alignment indicates the northern moonset at the Lunar Minimum. In the same field, toward the sandy track, below Coalpit Lane, is a low mound and another pair of felled stones.
