A beautiful pair of stones, near to the village of Clifton. Access is quite easy, the path from the farm has been improved. A circular walk is possible from Clifton, taking the footpath via Clifton Hall, where you can visit a well preserved Peel Tower. The tower has been restored but apprears to have kept many of its original timbers. Very impressive!
The walk continues over the motorway, and through a number of fields on a very good path. As the route swings eastwards, the standing stones are clearly visible. In the corner of the field lies a very large mis-shapen stone. Could it be "The Hag" as mentioned on the OS map.
The walk continues eastward, and shortly a gate is reached to the left. Access to the stones is through this gate, then back over the motorway, up a hill and through a farmyard, and back to the village along the busy A6.

Clifton Stones submitted by nicoladidsbury Clifton Standing Stones - this stone lies closeby, its very big, and close to the area on the OS map marked as The Hag - its unusual shape of this stone could have earned it this title.
Just a musing I picked up on from another website.
