They surrounded me on my way to and from the stone, which has a short fence around it to keep the cows away. The stone is quite weathered but the carvings are visible from behind the fence.

The Edderton Class I Pictish symbol stone, pointed at the top, stands in a field close to this Highland village. It is a red-sandstone pillar stone standing 10 foot high and dating from the 5th-7th century AD.

Also called The Sharp Stone or Clach Chairidh, it has a fish, double disc and Z rod carved onto it. It supposedly marks the grave a prince of Denmark who was killed in a local battle.

Canmore site no. 14653.

Note: Free guided walk to the Edderton Pictish Symbol Stones on Saturday September 27th as part of Scottish Archaeology Month, see the comment on our page for more details

Thank you Andy and Admin my memory is very hazy these days and I forget what I have put on here, but this is a nice carved stone - one of many 'similar' Pictish stones in Scotland.
