Sherberton Double Stone Row. Location SX63927328 on Dartmoor in Devon. First recognised by Brian Byng in 1997 and now listed.

An unimpressive row with the stones barely showing above the turf. It runs almost N/S & can be traced for about 100m. It appears to be aligned on the large adjacent Sherberton Stone Circle to the south. The discovery of a row in association with another stone circle on Dartmoor raises the possibility that more of the stone circles that now stand alone may have had rows.

Update November 2019: More information about this alignment can be found on the Stone Rows of Great Britain website - see their entry for Sherberton Row, which includes a description, a plan of the row, photographs of the alignment and some of its very small individual stones, access information and a list of online resources for more information.

The SRoGB adds: "The surviving length of the stone row is situated on a north facing hill. It may once have extended as far as a stone circle situated just over the brow of the hill on a gentle south facing slope. Both the row and the stone circle are situated within enclosed farmland and as a result have been damaged".

The row is also included on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Sherberton Stone Row, which tells us this double stone row was discovered in 1997.

Whilst there is no entry for this row on Pastscape, it is included in the Devon and Dartmoor HER as MDC6426 (Site of stone row, Sherberton Common). The monument is not scheduled.
