'Fynnon Fair' in fact meaning Mary's Well - the 'M' of Mair (Welsh equivalent of Mary) changing to 'f' because of the mutation rules in welsh.....sorry if this is obvious to other readers, but it certainly wasn't to me when I first moved to Wales!

Maenclochog means 'ringing stones' referring to two large stones which used to stand next to Fynnon Fair. This well and its stones have since disappeared.
ref.Book of Welsh Saints; T.E.Breverton.
The Church itself is dedicated to St.Mary, and probably dates back to the 10th C.
