Bransdale Ridge (Low Cornfield House) submitted by johndhunter : Round Barrow 1000m west of Low Cornfield House at SE 60689 97032 – A closer look looking east, October 2017 (Vote or comment on this photo)
A round barrow situated in a prominent position on the southern end of Bransdale Ridge. The barrow has an earth and stone mound standing 0.9m high. It is round in shape and 9m in diameter. This mound was surrounded by a ditch up to 3m wide which has become filled-in over the years and is no longer visible as an earthwork.

There is a post-medieval boundary stone 0.9m high standing on the southern flank of the mound.

Source: Historic England List Entry Number 1010338, full details and description can be found there.

When I visited in October 2017 the boundary stone was no longer there unless its one of the recumbent stones lying on the southern edge. Also looking at photos I took in 2014 of this barrow it wasn’t there then either.

With the possible boundary stone being the larger recumbent one just right of centre in the image (Vote or comment on this photo)
