TheCaptain visited on 7th Sep 2022 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 3 Access: 4 The large cairn at the top of the stone row is completely overgrown, as is the top of the row, but I found a few fairly large fallen stones hidden underneath the overgrowth.

Trendlebere Down Stone Row Cairn submitted by bec-zog : Black Hill Stone Row & Cairn. SX767,793. Bronze age burial cairn with 16 stone row extending N, plus either a terminator stone or remains of a second stone row. A further cairn located at S end (Vote or comment on this photo)
On the northeastern slope of Black Hill is a Bronze age burial cairn with a 16 stone row extending North, plus either a terminator stone or remains of a second stone row. A further cairn is located at the Southern end.

Update August 2019: This cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Trendlebere Row S. Cairn.

The cairn is also recorded as part of the entry for Pastscape Monument No. 444981, which includes the stone row, the remains of a cairn and the site of a cairn. It is also scheduled as part of the entry for Historic England List ID 1003056 (Stone Row N of Yarner Wells), which includes its terminal cairn. More information can be found on the Devon and Dartmoor HER: MDV8077 (Cairn at south end of stone row on Trendlebere Down).

The cairn is also featured on the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for the Tendelbere Down Stone Row, which includes a plan of the stone row and its relationship to the cairns associated with it (this row is at its southern end).

Trendlebere Down Stone Row Cairn submitted by AngieLake : Standing back from the cairn a bit more, the stones underneath the vegetation are the clue to its existence. Black Hill is to the left here, and the stone row to the right. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Trendlebere Down Stone Row Cairn submitted by AngieLake : Stones under the grass and ferns give the clue to this cairn at the top end (nearest Black Hill) of the stone row on Trendlebere Down. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Trendlebere Down Stone Row Cairn submitted by AngieLake : The cairn at the top of the stone row on Trendlebere Down. In summer it is hard to see the stones in the row, but at the top end (nearest Black Hill) you can distinguish this mound from the surroundings because of the piled stones below the vegetation.

Admins: This must have been the Trendlebere Down site. Have just posted up some pics of the row and there's info coming on the cairn, which is also added to one of the photos.
Am about to add Black Hill Cairns (as per Butler).

[renamed. thank you. admin. Also added PDW, SRoGB, Pastscape and HE links] Admins: Please note, this site has picked up my Black Hill Cairns pictures. I've uploaded three photos of the Black Hill Cairn, which might be better named Black Hill Stone Row Cairn, or Trendlebere Down Stone Row Cairn??
