Ring Cairn in Devon
Information about the Willing Walls Reave Stone Ring Cairn Circle comes from the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website. Their notes tell us this is a "stone ring with internal diam 6.8m, bank 1.5m wide and 0.5m high. Just outside a break in the reave."
The PDW web page gives links to further information on Pastscape, Monument Number 438977, which adds that this is "a disturbed, flat-topped mound containing several large boulders lies immediately east of a break in the Willings Walls Reave. The outline of the feature is rather irregular and there is no evidence to suggest the presence of a cist or kerb. It seems most likely that this feature was created from material derived from the reave when the breech occurred ..... (the site sits) on a north-west facing slope at 330.0 OD (above sea level) ... it is almost certainly prehistoric in origin and probably sepulchral although another possibility is that it is stone gathered for the repair or construction of the reave."
The cairn is also recorded as MDV48896 (RING CAIRN in the Parish of Shaugh Prior) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as part of Historic England List Entry No. 1019083 (Medieval farmstead and field system, length of Willings Walls Reave, four round cairns, a ring cairn and pillow mounds at Willings Walls Warren).
