Cairn in Devon
This site is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website as the Plym Steps Ring Setting Cairn and Cist, although it gives a slightly different grid reference of SX60436711 to that of Pastscape (15 metres apart). Also see PDW's page for the Guide to the Langcombe Brook & Deadman's Bottom Cists
Further information can also be found on the Pastscape website, see Monument Number 441684, which tells us that this is "a well preserved cist at Plym Steps, Langcombe. The sides stand partly above ground, although traces of the covering barrow are distinctly visible. The cover stone rests on one of the long sides, and partly overhangs the cist. Length, east side, 2 feet 5 inches; west side, 2 feet 9 inches. Width, south end, 1 foot 1 inch; north end, 1 foot 11 inches; depth to floor, 2 feet. A low turf covered cairn situated on a west slope at about 370m OD. It has a diameter of 4.0m and a height of 0.3m with six spaced stones protruding around the perimeter. The central cist has a reclining cover stone with its east side buried in the ground
This site is also recorded as MDV5133 (Cist in the Parish of Shaugh Prior) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as Historic England List Entry No. 1012790 (Cairn with a cist south-east of Plym Steps).
The sites sits within a rich landscape of other cairns and cists.
