D30 Exloo submitted by greywether : Looking at this photo (taken in July 1993), there seem to be some stones in the background although no chance now of remembering what they were. There is no other hunebed in the vicinity. Perhaps someone knows or the next person there can check it out. Also known as Exloerbos. (1 comment)

In April this year, the chambered tombs at Eexloo were vandalised; three people were arrested for daubing the hunebeds with paint.
Another hunebed at Emmerdennen became the victim of a similar attack in July. Two local youths were arrested after painting rascist slogans and Nazi symbols on fourteen of the thirty-two stones.
The hunebeds of Drenthe have had legal protection since 1992. Without this, it's doubtful that the vandals would've been traced.

Good for them? In contrast, we fudge the issue and swastika chalking continues, fires are lit and stones get broken. Whatever happened to the git who daubed the Rollrights with yellow paint? Couple of hours community service?
