Richard13 visited on 21st Jul 2022 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 5 Access: 4 Visiting this site required negociating some narrow country lanes, but it is signed and is well worth the effort of reaching it. There is a small parking area and Carn Euny is a short walk away from here. The remains of the houses are clearly visible and the walls can clearly be made out. There are also other features visible such as paving and internal dividing walls in the houses. It does not take too much imagination to visualise how the village would have looked (with the help of some useful information boards) and it was interesting to consider how its inhabitants would have gone about their daily lives. There is also a Fougou here which makes it doubly worth visiting!

TheCaptain visited on 14th Jun 2022 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 4 I move on to Carn Euny village with its fantastic fogou, which has now had the round chamber covered, really magical. The remains of the village courtyard houses do not match up to the wonders of Chysauster, but this is more than made up for by the magic of the fogou.

Carn Euny Village
Carn Euny Village submitted by AngieLake : This view over the Carn Euny Settlement was taken in two shots, which are cobbled together to give an idea of how it looked in March 2004. Bec-Zog's pic is similar to this. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The remains of an Iron Age settlement, with foundations of stone huts and an intriguing curved underground passage, or fogou. 1.5 miles southwest of Sancreed off the A30, then an extremely narrow single-track lane. Park and walk a short distance uphill.

Carn Euny Village submitted by Horatio : House 1 (house numbers relate to the order in which they were excavated only) This is the best preserved of the large enclosures. This view is facing north and at the top can be seen (just) the paved entrance to the house, the two well defined rooms arching at the bottom and top can clearly be seen as well as the remains of a later wall of stones built inside the house wall on the right (east... Carn Euny Village submitted by Bladup : The actual Carn Euny outcrop just to the NW of the settlement, This rock has some very very fine grained granite [see photo] and looked like the fine grained rock had been broken off at various points, So the outcrop could have easily been a stone age axe factory.
