Standing Stones in Rogaland
At this site called Pallesen-Tomta is three standing stones. The site is today a small public park with a small beach to the south-west. The site is covered only in very short grass and the stones are easy to see from the road. A information sign is also placed at the site.
The standing stones were once located in each of the three corners in a large triangular-shaped burial cairn. The three sides of the cairn was from 20 to 22 metres in length. The cairn was not elevating much in the terrain, it was only 0,3 metres in height and packed with smaller rounded stones. A large flat stone slab was found in the centre of the cairn, probably covering a burial chamber. There is not known any findings or artifact from the cairn.
The three standing stones are the only remains left from the cairn. The stones are 1,3 1,2 and 1 metre in height. They are around 30-40cm wide and around 20-30cm thick. They are today oriented in a triangle but not in the same dimensions as the original cairn.
