Fernworthy Cairn N
Fernworthy Cairn N submitted by theCaptain : The cairn at the northern terminus of the northern stone row was until fairly recently covered by the forest, but this has now been cleared. Its not much to look at, but clearly defines the northern end of the row. Its about 5 m in diameter with a couple of surrounding kerb stones, and what I suspect is one of the side stones to a central cist being the most obvious feature. (Vote or comment on this photo)

It is very quiet out here with lots of chirrupping birds, buzzing insects and the wind blowing through the forest. Lovely.

Update October 2019: This cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Fernworthy N Cairn.

The cairn is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 443853 and on the Devon and Dartmoor HER as MDV6563 (Cairn north of the northern stone row at Fernworthy). The cairn is also scheduled as part of Historic England List ID 1017984 (A stone circle, known as Fernworthy Circle, three stone alignments and five cairns 425m and 525m north west of Sandeman Bridge).

For more information about how the cairn relates to the Fernworthy Stone Rows, see the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for Fernworthy 1 (North).
