Cist in Devon

A three sided kist supported on one side by a natural rock, stand above the remains of a cairn. The Dartmoor Exploration committee excavated the kist in 1898. They found that someone had preceded them and nothing was left to report.

Update November 2019: This cist is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entries for the Langstone Moor Cist and the Langstone Moor Stone Circle, Stone Row & Settlements.

This cairn and cist is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 439738, as MDV4118 (Round cairn and cist 440 metres east of White Tor summit), and scheduled as Historic England List Entry No. 1007947 (Round cairn and cist 440m east of White Tor summit).
