These two standing stones, the most northerly on the Isle of Lewis are 1.5m (5 feet) and 0.9m (3 feet) tall. They may be the remains of a four-poster (rectangle) which would have had a diameter of 3m (10 feet).

These are the Morrison Stones; this area was the stronghold of the Clan Morrison from approx 8th century onward. Legend has it the stones were used as an execution ground, where the Morrisons would merrily smash in the skulls of the MacAulays, bashing them against the old standing stones.
Easily reached, they are in a small fenced area beside the track from the public road over to Dun Eistein (pron. Dun Eash-dean), a sea-stack dun once occupied by the Morrisons.

Following caberfeidh's comment about the fearsome Morrison clan -
I guess there are many, many Morrison families living on Lewis today, and one very friendly family were the Morrisons who ran the B&B in the bungalow below the main Callanish site stones in 2001. It was the most perfect situation for a stay, just a short walk up the road to see the most amazing site in Britain.
If he had been warlike, just think of the opportunities THIS Mr Morrison would have had for head-bashing!
(Btw - does anyone know if they still run the business?)
