At the uphill, eastern end of the Trowlesworthy single stone row, is a round cairn of about 7 metres diamater on a slight uprising in the moorland. The cairn is today not very signiifcant, although it has a surrounding ring of stones, of which about thirteen can be counted, although none are very large. The largest stone, 1.2 m tall, is as usual positioned at the head of the row.
Tom Bullock says
"Circle diameter: 18 feet, Number of stones: 13
Sited on a natural knoll, the ring consists of rather small stones (one foot or so) compared to its neighbour, and the only stone of consequence (4-feet tall) stands at an angle across the upper end of the row that runs up to the ring from the W".
Update December 2019: This cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entries for the Trowlesworthy Warren (W) Cairn Circle and Trowlesworthy, Settlements, Stone Row & Cairn Circle, which tells us this cairn is located at the east end of the Trowlesworthy Warren (W) (Trowlesworthy 2) stone row.
The cairn is also recorded as part of Pastscape Monument No 439148, as MDV49509 (Cairn at end of stone row south-west of Great Trowlesworthy Tor) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as part of Historic England List Entry No. 1016147 (A stone alignment, kerbed cairn, prehistoric settlement, four pillow mounds, a vermin trap and animal runs 720m south west of Great Trowlesworthy Tor).
For more information about the stone row, see the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for Trowlesworthy 2, which includes a description, a plan of the row and its associated cairn, photographs of the row and the cairn, and a list of online resources for more information.
