Ring Cairn in Carmarthenshire (Sir Caerfyrddin)

As much a stone circle as a ring cairn but is called a ring cairn on a sign at the site, It has a big center stone that the sign says was once part of a cist, It's right next to a barrow.

Mynydd Llanyynderyrn
Mynydd Llanyynderyrn submitted by Horatio : The mutilated ring cairn with what looks possibly like the roof of the cist being used as the central stone but all this is lost in the midst of time as to what it was really like. Still a great sites on the upland of Mynydd Llangynderyrn. You need a big dollop of imagination to call this one a mountain though. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Mynydd Llanyynderyrn submitted by Horatio : Looking NNW across the ring cairn on Mynydd Llanyynderyrn, Carmarthen would be in the distance if you could see it through the haze (Vote or comment on this photo)

Mynydd Llanyynderyrn
Mynydd Llanyynderyrn submitted by Horatio : Bronze age round barrow on top of Mynydd Llanyynderyn and very close to the ring cairn. Why oh why in the 30's did they think to stick a triangulation pillar smack bang in the middle of an ancient site, 1930's too, not that distant either. Any way, this is the best photo I could get to show the outline of the barrow. You could almost walk over this without noticing it. Can't find much or ra...

Mynydd Llanyynderyrn Ring Cairn
Mynydd Llanyynderyrn Ring Cairn submitted by Horatio : Surprising that such a fine example of a ring cairn in my own county and not much shouted about, albeit how much is true to its original firm? (I'd like to think most of it). The obvious anamoly being the large stone at the centre, rumour has it that this may have been a capstone to a cist that was added later after it initial use, as although graves and funery ashes have been found been found i...
