Merrivale NE circle
Merrivale NE circle submitted by thecaptain : At the eastern end of the Merrivale northern double row is the remains of a cairn with a surrounding stone circle. These stones can be seen here, along with the large stones at the end of the rows extending away from the circle in this view looking west. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Cairn circle, part of the Merrivale complex on western Dartmoor, in Devon.

At the eastern end of the northern double stone row is the remains of a cairn and its surrounding stone circle. The diameter is about 7 metres, and there are about half a dozen stones remaining, although only one is standing upright.

Update November 2019: This cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entries for the Merrivale NE Cairn Circle and the Merrivale Ceremonial Complex [Photo Set 1].

The cairn is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 440056, as part of MDV14791 (Merrivale Stone Row A, Dartmoor Forest) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as part of Historic England List Entry No. 1013429 (Three stone alignments, ten cairns, three stone hut circles and a length of the Great Western Reave on Longash Common).

For more information about the stone row, see the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for Merrivale 1, which includes a plan of the monuments at Merrivale showing their relationship to each other, a description of the row, photographs, access information and a list of online resources for more information.

The coordinates of this circle seem wrong compared to the description and photos. From these, it would seem the ring is closer to 50.555139, -4.040620
